You could call it elusive or nonexistent. There is no dearth of affordable website hosting plans. There are dozens of cheap webhosts that claim to offer the cheapest plans in the world. Indeed, most of them have very similar plans at almost identical prices so their claims may very well be true. The problem is with their customer and/or technical support. You would find out, sooner than later, that most of these website hosting companies have no customer service and technical support teams working round the clock to attend to your problems.

Some of these hosting companies offer chat support. They claim it is live chat support but seldom is anyone live. Most of these cheap website hosting companies don’t offer telephonic support or any kind of live intervention on call, video conference or even email. They tend to have a knowledgebase hosted on their website, there is a community of users or clients, forums and also blogs that will have some generic solutions, recommendations and also specific discussion threads. If you are lucky and your problem is very generic, already discussed and resolved in these discussion threads or knowledgebase, then you can get the problem fixed yourself. That is only if you are aware of the technicalities, if the problem can be solved from the control panel or you can make some changes that will bring about the remedy. Else, you are by yourself without a solution.

There are always scenarios when something or the other will go wrong and it could be your fault or that of the servers, network, some software, hardware or tool facilitating the hosting of the website. These problems need human intervention. They would not be fixed automatically. You cannot solve them, even if you are technically equipped, because you don’t have access to the hosting servers. This is the reality simply because the cost at which these hosting companies offer the plans do not leave any financial leeway to pay for skilled and capable technical support staff. Even if they do have a technical team working round the clock, they would attend to the entire infrastructure and not delegated to work on specific issues of the clients having problems.

The solution is simple. You need to opt for a hosting company that has proven its customer service and technical support, a host that has been hailed for these services and timely solutions to all possible and experienced problems. Or, you could get into a special service agreement wherein you pay a bit more than the usual monthly charges for active support.
